We're big fans of fire glass here at Campfire In A Can. Although it's just small bits of tempered glass, it's super safe to use and adds a touch of style that's hard to beat! Plus, you can get it in many different colours so it's a great way to customize your new fire pit. And because we're kind of experts on it, we've even got some recommendations for you!
Generally there are two kinds of fire glass we suggest people get: 1/2 inch Reflective Fire Glass which looks like large chunks of broken glass, or 1/2 inch Fire Glass Beads which is smooth and round in shape. Both allow a nice flow of propane through the glass and will give you a great looking fire. We've added direct links to our recommendations on Amazon.com because A) that's a great place to get it and B) we're just helpful like that.
As for how much you'll need, if you go with the 1/2 inch Reflective Fire Glass, you should order about 7.5 pounds. If you decided on the 1/2 inch Fire Glass Beads, we recommend getting approximately 9 pounds.
If you do make a fancy schmancy decorative fire pit, make sure you send us a picture. We'd love to see it!
