  • CAMPFIRE IN A CAN FAQ - PROPANE

  • How long will The Propane Campfire In A Can operate using a standard 20lb / 5.28 US Gallon LP tank?

Short Answer: Most people vary the height of their campfire flame depending on the weather and the number of people around it. It usually works out that you will get about 10 - 13 hours out of a 20 lb tank.

Long Answer: Good question! Difficult answer! Most people vary the height of the flame in their campfire during use. Most campfires will allow you to make the fire smaller but you can't make the fire any larger than the maximum BTUs it was designed to generate. The size of the fire used is typically determined by how many people are sitting around it as well as the outside temperature or a combination of both. There are a lot of variables that go into this answer, but the best course of action to take is to buy a campfire that does not limit how large or small your campfire can be, keep all your options open and enjoy your campfire.

  • Can I use a 1 lb (green) bottle of propane to run my Propane Campfire In A Can, and how long will it last?

Short Answer: Yes you can! You do require a Propane Steak Saver Adapter, which is something that you can buy at a place that sells propane products. It has a coupler to join your propane tank and your Campfire. The 1 lb bottle will run your Campfire In A Can for approximately 45 minutes at medium height.

Long Answer: Yes you can! You do require a Propane Steak Saver Adapter, which is something that you can buy at a place that sells propane products. Having said that, there are some things you need to know about how propane changes from a liquid to a gas. First, in a propane tank, there is an air space which allows the propane liquid to change into a gas before leaving the tank. The air space in a 20 lb tank is much larger than the air space in a 1 lb tank. As the propane changes states, it produces a temperature change that is very cold. This is why you see frost form on the outside of the propane tank sometimes. The more frost that forms on the outside of the tank, the slower the liquid changes to a gas. On a small tank, the tank will get very cold on the outside, and the propane gas will start to flow more slowly. The best thing to do is to change the tank out and put a new one on - take a few small 1 lb tanks and rotate them accordingly.

When the propane flow slows down, this does not necessarily mean that you are out of propane, it may just mean that the propane has cooled enough to restrict flow.

  • How much heat will The Propane Campfire In A Can produce?

Short Answer: The Propane Campfire In A Can will produce up to 64,000 BTUs of heat safely or less, as required.

Long Answer: The Propane Campfire In A Can produces 64,000 BTUs of heat. This rating is allocated by an independent laboratory, OMNI Test Laboratories after rigorous testing.

With all propane campfires, you can adjust the flame size and heat output (BTU). If a campfire has a low BTU (26,000) rating, the flame size and the heat output (BTU) will be low. If the propane campfire has a high BTU (64,000) rating, the campfire will be able to produce either a low flame with low heat, or a high flame with high heat, or any thing in between depending on your need. A higher BTU allows you to turn it up on those cool evenings, or down to set the mood on a warm summer night.
