Cheesy Campfire Scalloped Potatoes

Looking for a campfire meal that is pure comfort food, and is still easy to prep ahead of time? Then these Campfire Scalloped Potatoes are going to be perfect! Whether you’re heading out to the campsite or staying at home, this is easy to prep and take with you, or grill on the BBQ at home.

Looking for a vegan or vegetarian version? Be sure to use vegetable broth and a vegetarian friendly Worcestershire sauce in this one. Vegan campers will want to omit the butter and cheese, but great substitutions are out there (like Earth Balance & Daiya).

Campfire Scalloped Potatoes


5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
6 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
1/3 cup chicken or vegetable broth


1. Place the potatoes and onion on a large piece of heavy-duty foil (about 20 inches x 20 inches); dot with butter.
2. Combine the cheese, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper; sprinkle over potatoes. Fold foil up around potatoes and add broth. Seal the edges of foil well.
3. Place on the grill, covered, over medium heat/flame for 35-40 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

Yield: 4-6 servings.
